THE BAND

Five students from the Music Conservatory in Cluj (Kolozsvár), inspired by the return of the Hungarian dance house movement, gathered in 2010 and set up an orchestra...That's how our story begins.

First of all, we wanted to offer the local students some entertainment and we performed mostly at dance houses, pubs and cafes. After that we were invited to the villages with Hungarian populations around Cluj (Kolozsvár) to perform at dances, parties, camps and different events. We got the idea to name the band Tokos in February 2012. The great turning point for our band was about to happen in 2014 when we participated at the folklore competition "Fölszállott a páva" organized by the Hungarian television Duna TV where we won first prize in our category. We played our first LP called "Hallgassátok meg, magyarim" (Listen, my Hungarians) at the Hungarian Opera in Cluj-Napoca.

A professional folk music band is coming from Transylvania to play traditional Hungarian live music at our camp.
